The Resort of Lola was a delight! It's located on a
small island between Gizo and the Morovo Lagoon, in fact it's in a
lagoon called Vona Vona.
 On
the left are the bungalows in an exotic setting surrounded by orchids.
 There
were other larger units available at the resort. I will say, they look
pretty nice.
 The
jungle comes right up behind and resort.
We walked through to the other side where there
was a small beach and breaking surf.
 Across
the water is a place called "Skull Island." It's a forbidden place that
must be visited with a guide. The artifacts here are the remains of
chiefs. There are also a couple of Christian graves on the island. These
kinds of sites are not my favorite.

Instead of these ugly skulls I thought you'd enjoy these beautiful lion
fish we found swimming out in front of the resort.
We hung around Lola Island a while waiting to see if the
weather would improve. We were even swimming in the rain! But alas, no
real change - rain and clouds.

Even though I like this picture the weather wasn't what we were hoping
for! |
