Uepi Resort

Uepi Resort is in the north east aspect of the Morovo Lagoon. Out on the fringing reef. We were told that we would see some manta rays nearby and we were thrilled to go out and see them. As you see there were two of them and they did a ballet for us!

The sky was so unpredictable and the charts were so far off that we asked a local man named, Lionel to help us navigate over to Uepi Resort.

The picture on the right shows an island with very shallow water on either side of it. The chart on the left shows the same island with clear area on either side. This is why we were having problems navigating in the Solomons.

The chart on the left you see the waypoint where we're supposed to go in for the resort. Lionel was able to bring us right into the anchorage without any problems. The resort is on the west side of the pass and the anchorage is around some reefs and a bit further west of the resort.

Just a couple of shots of the resort. We enjoyed having meals there and meeting the guests who came from all over the world.

When you look out a Quest in the anchorage you can't tell where the shallow water is because the light isn't just right.

We came to Uepi Resort to do some diving and relax and as you can see we enjoyed our time in the water.

Most of the best diving and snorkeling was right in the pass next to the resort. On the right is a harlequin sweetlips (Plectorhinchus chaetodonoides) guarding his/her eggs.

On the left is the female orange-striped triggerfish (Balistapus undulatus). The little blue demoiselles are called blue devil or South Seas devil (Chrysiptera cyanea).

This Pacific lion fish was right next to the dinghy dock at the Uepi Resort. (Pterois volitans).

On the left is a cute little foxface rabbitfish (Siganus vulpinnus).

The beautiful striped fish on the right is a regal angelfish (Pygoplites diacanthus).

Uepi was our last relaxing stop before we headed off to Noro, checked out of the country and headed north to Micronesia. Jimmy Cornel says one must cross the equator in October and that was our plan. We had an uneventful crossing to Kosrae, FSM (Federated States of Micronesia).
